Legacy Mountain Studio

A place to work from the music

Acoustically designed by Phil Newell and located in one of the most secluded and hypnotic settings in the mountains of northern Spain, Legacy Mountain Studio was created with a very specific idea in mind: to provide a place where music can breathe, develop without interruption and be approached organically, with complete focus.

There are no algorithms here dictating how a song should sound. We do not obsessively pursue the “perfect take”, nor do we place technical perfection above everything else.

We look for the take that carries musical essence — the one that contains intention, personality and emotion; the one that gives a production its artistic character and allows a performance to transcend technical perfection.

Music needs space, time and freedom to find its own identity.

Music before perfection

We believe in simultaneous recording and live performance, in the interaction between musicians and in the freshness that emerges when a performance genuinely happens in the moment.

We believe in recordings that preserve energy, dialogue and those small imperfections that make a performance feel alive.

We are interested in music that can be honestly performed and defended live. A production should not conceal a performance, but enhance it and allow its essence to remain.

Whenever the project allows it, we prefer to capture musicians playing together, listening and responding to one another, rather than constructing a performance piece by piece in pursuit of isolated perfection.

We are not interested in manufacturing a reality that never happened.

We want to capture what happens when music is truly being played.

A space where music can breathe

The studio is part of a private complex built within a farmhouse with more than a century of history. Its irregular natural stone walls, some more than one and a half metres thick, together with its high wooden ceilings, create a distinctive architectural and acoustic character.

Here, the surroundings are not simply decorative. They are part of the production experience.

Privacy, isolation and the absence of distractions allow each project to be approached in depth and developed organically, from the initial concept through to the recording.

A production environment without pressure

Legacy Mountain Studio is conceived as a production environment where urgency and pressure have no place.

We work with the flexibility each project requires, adapting to the rhythm and needs of our clients rather than imposing a rigid schedule.

The aim is simple: to have the time necessary to listen, experiment, make decisions and allow every production to find its own identity.
